Global electronic waste data collated with interactive map

Resource / Global electronic waste data collated with interactive map

By Will Ingram / 27 Oct 2015

An interactive map has been published by the Step Initiative, which presents national quantities of e-waste.

This first-of-a-kind display provides comparable and frequently updated data for the amount of electrical and electronic equipment each country puts on the market, and the subsequent amount of e-waste created. It will be useful for policy makers, researchers, communicators and consumers.

The health and environmental effects of e-waste and underdeveloped recycling methods are well known, but quantitative open information exposes the scale of the problem and will help to identify opportunities to address it.

The Step Initiative welcomes the submission of additional relevant data.
