Canadian Business for Social Responsibility (CBSR) has released a comprehensive checklist for companies and businesses to use to implement social, environmental and economic changes within their organisation and as a benchmark for corporate social responsibility. It provides suggestions used to reorganise business models by evaluating 19 key criteria ranging from ‘business inclusivity’ to ‘stakeholder accountability/transparency’, to aligning corporate purposes with sustainability principles. Each initiative provides informative directions on what the concept is, why it is important to make the change and how to go about implementing it, as well as providing examples of industry leaders who are currently enacting these specified changes. This resource has already been used across industries - from the financial services (Aviva and Vancity Credit Union) to media and retail (British Telecom, Coca-Cola and Unilever) - to aid in achieving a more sustainable future for the companies as well as those that they serve.
