Resource / How UK policy changes will affect sustainable energy sector

The UK government announced over a dozen changes to its sustainable energy policy in the last six months of 2015, raising alarm within the sector about employment, sales and economic security. Heavy cuts were made to the Feed-in Tarrif (FiT) in particular, which was designed to promote the uptake of small-scale renewable and low-cost carbon electricity generation technologies. Ashden, a charity supporting leaders in sustainable energy, has recently published a report discussing how businesses, communities and employers will be affected by the heavily reduced FiT rates for small scale solar, wind and hydro power.
