Signal of change / GE is offering free online learning certificates plus guaranteed interviews to Massachusetts residents

By Gwyneth Marcelo / 22 Nov 2017

GE is offering free online learning certificates plus guaranteed interviews to Massachusetts residents, through the online learning platfrom EdX.org. The offer is a collaboration between the platform, founded by Harvard and MIT, working with GE and Microsoft to provide high quality courses that lead directly to employment opportunities.

So what?

This is what I envision as the future of education. Companies offer courses and hire the best performers. No more 4-year university, which is a waste of time and money. A course-based learning allows for a lot more agility and variety in your education. Some might assume it wouldn't offer a well-rounded education, but it offers continual learning opportunities in any and all fields, as opposed to a prescribed programme at one physical locale with one set of instructors.
