A growing number of UK high street food and beverage outlets are taking action to end plastic waste:
- Pret A Manger started trialling paper straws in selected stores from February 2017.
- Wagamama will end use of plastic straws this year on Earth Day, April 22, switching to a biodegradable alternative.
- Costa Coffee will offer a non-plastic alternative later in the year.
So what?
The movement towards ending plastic waste is moving into the mainstream.
Who will be the fast followers? How will the public respond?
And to what extent are companies that fail to act risking their social license to operate?
