Signal of change / Iceland is first major retailer to commit to eliminating plastic on own brand line

By Ella-Louise Micallef / 29 Jan 2018

Iceland has become the first major retailer to commit to eliminating plastic packaging from all its own brand products within the next five years. It plans to replace its current packaging with paper and pulp trays, and paper bags, which would be able to be recycled using domestic waste collection.

So what?

How long will it take for other retailers to follow suit?

While reducing plastic waste is a significant step forward, can the paper and pulp used to replace it also come from recycled sources, rather than virgin forests and crops?
