Indian NGO uses blockchain to deliver school meals

Signal of change / Indian NGO uses blockchain to deliver school meals

By Futures Centre / 13 Feb 2018

Akshaya Patra, an Indian NGO that runs the world’s largest mid-day meal program of its kind, is teaming up with Accenture to use blockchain to improve meal delivery to schoolchildren.

So what?

The system ensures accurate invoicing and reporting, and facilitates real-time feedback leading to better service provision. The efficiency gains will allow the group to provide one million more meals per year.

It shows the power of decentralised ledgers to deliver immediate benefits across complex societal systems.
