Shell enters 5 year contract with UK's biggest solar farm

Signal of change / Shell enters 5 year contract with UK's biggest solar farm

By Rebecca Lawson / 12 Feb 2018

Fossil giant Shell made a surprise move into UK utility sector by buying the energy supply company First Utility last month. It has now signed a five-year PPA with Britain's largest solar farm, to take all of its solar power.

So what?

The move into the UK utility market and clean power are part of a diversification strategy that Shell has ramped up following its Paris Climate deal signature.

This is one signal of the potential impact of global agreements on business strategy, shaping the future of the energy sector.
