Las Vegas dancers accept bitcoin payments via QR tattoos

Signal of change / Las Vegas dancers accept bitcoin payments via QR tattoos

By Ella-Louise Micallef / 01 Mar 2018

A Las Vegas strip club, called the Legends Room, has allowed its dancers to receive payments from clients directly using bitcoin transfers. The club even has an in-house bitcoin ATM, and allows dancers to wear temporary QR tattoos as wallet addresses that can be scanned using a smart phone.

So what?

The primary purpose of this feature appears to be to improve the privacy of their clients, whilst also attracting wealthy bitcoin investors. The dancers are also seeing benefits, as one called Summer Chase explains: “I’m not going to name names, but there are certain banks that… will shut down your account and actually deny you from having an account because we work in the adult entertainment industry.”

With its ability to offer greater privacy and security, could bitcoin be the future of adult entertainment? Might it also enable workers in the sex industry to achieve greater economic and personal security?

What might the implications of this be? What related signals of change have you seen?
