Signal of change / Meat giant Tyson invests to make lab-grown meat mainstream

By Ella-Louise Micallef / 16 May 2018

Meat giant Tyson recently invested in Jerusalem-based start-up Future Meat Technologies, an animal-free meat production company. The start-up believes in making slaughter-free beef and chicken accessible to everyone, by reducing the costs typically associated with cellular agriculture technology.

So what?

The main stumbling block with lab-grown meat is the huge production costs associated with it. With companies like Future Meat Technologies finding ways to circumvent that, and biotechnology progressing rapidly, could we see lab-grown meats on our supermarket shelves in the next few years?
