The government has reiterated its commitment to use clean coal to reduce emissions by 29 percent in 2019 by requiring coal-fired power producers to use low-emissions technology, a top official has said.

"The government requires power plants with above 600 megawatts (MW) of capacity to use super critical technology and 1,000 MW power plants to use ultra-super critical technology," Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's director general of electricity Jarman said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The government also decided to cap coal portions in energy mix at 50 percent in 2025, renewable energy at 25 percent and gas at 24 percent, with oil to be slashed only 1 percent, Jarman added.
