Apple has doubled the number of suppliers using clean energy as part of their commitment to be carbon neutral across its supply chain and products by 2030.
So what?
This action will avoid 18 million tons of CO2 per year – the same as removing 4 million cars from roads annually. It also aims to deliver renewable power to communities to support their economic and social growth, whilst empowering them in the “fight against climate change.”
Apple’s actions might seem like greenwashing on the surface. However, their promise to support building the capacity of historically disadvantaged communities whilst investing in the renewable transition of their supply chain shows an organization that is shifting to a just and regenerative mindset.
