Tesco to offer free food to staff in an attempt to become zero waste

by Futures Centre, Feb 28
1 minute read

Tesco will begin offering surplus food to its shop staff in an attempt to hit its zero waste target by March. The scheme, known as Colleague Shops, will allow staff to purchase any excess food if Tesco cannot find a suitable community group or charity who needs it. Charities will still be given priority access to any surplus, before offering any remaining food to staff in order to further reduce waste. Dedicated storage areas and fridges are being installed in back rooms, which will be used to store the food.
