Betting on Blockchain to Put Truly Sustainable Seafood on Dinner Plates

by Futures Centre, Mar 17
1 minute read

Tamperproof publicly encrypted blockchain technoloy is being embraced by major industry players like Red Lobster to bring trust and traceability to seafood. Likened to a passport, a digital record is created for each fish caught containing information like weight, species, vessel and location of capture. As it transits the supply chain, the record stays with the fish and products made from it. Although illegal activity is still possible, it is now easier to detect based on the cataloged & time stamped information as well as satellite data on vessels that can also be verified.

Participants in the program being developed by Each Mile, will be rewarded Fishcoins that can be exchanged for things like phone minutes.
