In regards to new mechanisms to restore nature, a tide of financial mechanisms are being designed to address climate and biodiversity challenges, and there are signals that results-based climate finance, such as payments for emission reductions, is working.

So what?

This mechanism incentivises climate action and helps countries achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement. As one example, Costa Rica is a leader in using financial levers to promote conservation and climate change action. Carbon tax revenues are being used to fund forest preservation and sustainable development.
