As Eileen Townsend writes in the New York Times, drag artists are going beyond gender politics into the realm of the post-human, alien and apocalyptic.

One performer is ‘Hungry’: the creation of a 24-year-old Berliner, Johannes Jaruraak. She (a female drag persona) is “known for looks that showcase a manipulated anatomy: dropped eyes, foreshortened noses, lips airbrushed to appear ephemeral”, Townsend reports.
