Facebook changes its name to Meta in major rebrand

Facebook has changed its name to ‘Meta’.  The app and messenger ‘Facebook’ will keep the name, but the parent company, similar to Alphabet, will now be known as Meta.

 

So What?

Facebook has re-branded itself as Meta, foreshadowing the company’s intended dominance in building a comprehensive metaverse.  Participants in the metaverse own virtual goods like clothing and property, attend concerts and restaurants, and are trading virtual assets.
