Pampers has announced its commitment to install 5,000 changing tables in public restrooms across North America by 2021 as part of its “Love the Change” campaign towards more inclusive parenting. The announcement comes after an image of Florida father, Donte Palmer, squatting to change his son’s diaper, gained popularity on social media. Pampers has collaborated with Palmer’s subsequent #SquatForChange organization committed to “drive initiatives that result in the installation of appropriate diaper changing stations in all designated public restrooms” along with musician John Legend to promote and further the initiative.
Pampers plans to identify “high-need public locations…such as parks and recreation centers, community centers and libraries in cities such as Cincinnati, Dallas, Philadelphia, Detroit, and many others across the US and Canada” in partnership with Koala Kare, a baby changing station brand. The first 500 locations have already been identified and according to the official statement by the company, installation is expected to be completed over the coming weeks.
Andre Schulten, Vice President and General Manager Baby Care North America, Procter & Gamble, said: “We are proud to announce our commitment to provide 5,000 changing tables for installation in public restrooms by 2021 to help address the inequality hands-on dads face when it comes to taking care of their babies.”
